We recently stayed at the Lodge at Mammoth. This is the only place in the city, so limited choice. A very friendly couple who owns and operates the equipment. We had two rooms, ordered for six people, and she was full. She offered for us to set up tents by the pool just to accommodate us. The rooms are very old, but they are updated. Definitely not 5 stars, but if you expect from the Grand Hyatt you need to stay elsewhere. Right on the Arizona Wilderness Discovery Route (AZBDR).

My husband is a long distance hiker. He came into Mammoth with a broken hiking pole, severe blisters and need of laundry. Violet, the owner, was VERY helpful in these areas. The room was tidy but, no, not impeccable-hair in the shower.
IF you need a motel this is the only one in town. I've been to better. I've been to worse. It's all in what you require. ALL of my husband's requirements were met. Violet is in the middle of upgrades. I suspect she'll have this place gorgeous. Now, it's workable.
